Alphakrust Ltd certified by the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC)

After a thorough and extensive audit, Alphakrust Ltd, shrimp farming project in Mafia island, Tanzania has been successfully Certified by the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC). This standard advocates for responsible shrimp farming.

The standard also addresses the potential environmental and social impact of farming such as loss of biodiversity, use of feed and water resources, disease  management and effects on local communities. We are certified that our farms actively minimize their impact on the surrounding natural environment and operate in a socially responsible manner caring for their employees and working with the local community.

Alpha Group - Food Division

Alpha Group Food division is a part of a conglomerate operating in East Africa for the last five decades. Alpha Group is a pioneer in processing and marketing finest wild caught and aqua-cultured seafood exported to customers globally.

Our Main products include Nile perch from Lake Victoria, the largest fresh water lake in world and Octopus, Squid, Lobster, Prawn, Crab and other species in the Indian Ocean. This includes wild tiger and banana prawns, deep see lobster and crab frozen on-board, our factory vessels which are modern trawlers with on-board freezing facility and are being operated with the approval of Local competent authority and European Union.

The Alpha Group is the first company in East African to build and operate a 100 ha Black Tiger prawn aquaculture farm on the Mafia Island off the cost of Tanzania.

Controlling production from the source is essential to achieving the consistent performance that our customers expect of the products we procure. Production facilities are audited annually by internationally recognized third party food safety inspection organizations. All products in the brands of our customers are packed following approved specifications. In-line testing is done according to HACCP process controls and is done on all shipments.

We have extensive experience supporting supply programs to food service distributors, wholesalers and international importers and exporters worldwide. We understand how to support those programs through the distribution chain, and how to manage often seasonal world-wide supply logistics to assure year round continuity to our customers.
